Early Life and Education
In 1945, in the village of Thalayolaparambu, Kottayam, Kerala, a beautiful story began with the birth of Nurse Eleyamma to Thomas and Mary, a loving couple from a traditional Christian family. Nurse Eleyamma’s childhood was filled with joy and warmth, nurtured by her devoted parents.
During her schooling, Nurse Eleyamma developed a keen interest in nursing care. Driven by this passion, she pursued nursing studies at Kottayam Mandiram Hospital, specializing in midwifery.
Career and Achievements
Upon completing her education, Nurse Eleyamma embarked on a fulfilling career as a government nurse. Her dedication and expertise led her to serve in several hospitals in and around Kottayam. She made a significant impact on the lives of countless patients and their families, earning her the moniker “The Mother Teresa of Thalayolaparambu.
Her service excellence was recognized by the community, and she received several awards. Her achievements were frequently highlighted in newspapers.
Continuing the Tradition
After a distinguished career, Eleyamma retired in 1988 and passed away in 1995.
Inspired by stories of Nurse Eleyamma’s compassion and dedication, her granddaughters followed in her footsteps, continuing the tradition of exceptional nursing care. Their passion for nursing, shaped by the values instilled in them, has become a guiding force in their careers.
A New Chapter
Carrying the legacy forward, they pursued their nursing degrees, and they became registered nurses in Canada. With a commitment to compassionate care and service excellence, they continued to draw inspiration from Nurse Eleyamma’s life and contributions.
The Noble Oak
In honor of their grandmother’s legacy, they fulfilled a long-time dream of starting a home care service. “The Noble Oak” was born, a home care agency founded on the principles of love, care, and excellence, continuing Nurse Eleyamma’s impact for a new generation.
